THE BOYS

"The Boys" as we like to call them are our first babies. We bought them when we were living in Adana, Turkey at Incirlik Air Base. Huskies, who knew how much we would love them? We were having lunch one day in downtown Adana at this little bakery and decided to take a walk down the street to do some window shopping. Well.....that window shopping ended up turning into us becoming fur parents after only 4 months of marriage! Serious first decision together, OMG, and now we were a family of three.
I mean really, how could you pass up one of these guys? :)
We named him Titus just because it sounded strong and noble...kinda what we wanted him to be like. Titus was our first so he was spoiled beyond repair. We love him so. Titus has been by our side for the last four years and isn't going anywhere. Even when I was pregnant he stayed by my side, never letting me out of his sight. When we brought Christian home...Titus couldn't wait to meet his new baby brother.
Next, we have the other love of our life, Apollo. Apollo has a very different story in terms of how we found him. He wasn't taken care of by a loving owner or pet shop, he was abused, dirty, underweight, and neglected. We were on the search for Titus to have a playmate as we learned through lots of online reading that husky's are pack dogs and love companionship, so we needed to find a dog that was a little older, at least 3 months (Titus was already 6 months) to be able to play with Titus and not get hurt. After weeks of searching through pet shops and local breeders, we were not finding what we wanted. We wanted another husky :) One night by chance we decided to go home from dinner on a different road just to see what was down that street and came upon a pet shop. There was a fenced grassy area out front that had puppies and the mommy's hanging out on display for potential buyers. We didn't really look too hard because they were so little in comparison to what we were looking for. We decided to go in the shop just to look around and there he was, Apollo. He was in a tiny wire cage as small as he was, covered in his own "filth" and was basically skeleton in body. His bright blue eyes looked into mine and I knew I could never leave this store without him, even if it was just to give him the best "ending" possible of his short life. After ten minutes of discussing a price, he was ours. We gently carried him to the car, and drove home, feeling relieved that this little guy was with us. At home we bathed him three times over since he was covered in fleas and ticks, needing so much TLC. After the water finally ran clear did we know he was done and than to our surprise....he was blonde!!! We couldn't even tell he was blonde because of the dirt and filth that had been packed into his fur. He was a beautiful blonde/gray with blue eyes husky!!! :) After a vet visit, shots, lots of food and love, and Titus's help of course, he made a comeback and became another member of our family.
To this day we can not even imagine the love and joy these boys have brought to our lives. My babies.
